Responsibilities
- The Patient Care Tech (PCT) works in partnership with the licensed nurse to support the delivery of care in a safe patient environment that promotes caring and healing.
- The PCT demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for age specific populations under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- He/she records data as directed by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient concerns to the licensed nurse.
- The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assigned non-nursing functions.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification or may be in senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program.
- For Emergency room departments – completion of an approved EMT Basic certification may be substituted for CNA/PCT certification.
- Must maintain active certification within the State of Texas.
- Competent to use patient care related machines and equipment.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
- Training, education and competencies completed annually for any additional duties required.
- Comply with regulatory requirements, guidelines, and policies.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 2- year experience in acute care hospital or long-term care facility.
