Position Overview
A coastal community hospital in Nags Head, North Carolina is seeking a skilled and flexible Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide locum tenens coverage in their Emergency Department. This role supports an established team with strong specialty backup and a range of shift options available from June through September. Orientation is required the day prior to the first scheduled shift. Assignment Highlights

• HPA Healthcare is a Joint Commission–certified agency
• Emergency Department only — no inpatient rounding or call
• Supportive team of 6 physicians and 3 APPs
• On-site radiology, anesthesia, and 24-hour lab access
• Epic EMR (system-wide across ECU Health)
• Pre-paid travel and lodging provided
• Malpractice insurance included at no cost
• Provider responds to codes; no ICU duties
• Strong transport infrastructure with ECU Health Air and Ground support

• Shift Types: 7a–7p, 3p–3a, 2p–12a, 12p–12a, 7p–7a
• Coverage Dates:
• August and September - specific dates

• Start Date: As soon as credentialed
• Orientation: Required the day before first scheduled shift
• Call: None Skills & Experience
• Active North Carolina license and DEA required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS/APLS (American Heart Association) required
• Experience in emergency medicine or urgent care preferred
• Must be comfortable responding to codes
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
