- Facilitates appropriate admissions to appropriate health system units by initiating orders, coordinating with appropriate attending physician, and moderating medication reconciliation process.
- Performs and dictates History & Physical, medical Consultation, Discharge Summary and SOAP notes as per hospitalist service standards.
- Assists with development of plan of care.
- Reviews diagnostic X-Rays, monitors lab values and other diagnostic studies.
- Performs daily rounds as assigned by Critical Care physicians.
- Communicates with physicians, nursing staff, residents and other members of the medical team to maintain current and accurate updates in patient status
- Willingness to learn to perform procedures including intubations and the placement of central lines, chest tubes and Quinton catheters.
General Requirements
- Demonstrates knowledge and maintains and respects patient right to privacy by following the HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures.

- Works in a safe manner and promptly reports any hazards identified in the work environment or related to assigned responsibilities.
- Adheres to policies and procedures designed to avoid, prevent and reduce the spread of communicable diseases.
- One year experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in acute hospital setting required.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
- One year experience in critical care setting. Preferred
- MSN degree required or graduate of an accredited PA Program.
- Current Michigan RN license
- Certification and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of MI required.
- BLS/ACLS
- Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective plan of care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.
- Computer skills appropriate for navigating current word processing, database, and networking programs.
- Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
