Position Description

The UPMC Digestive Health and Endoscopy Center in Penn Hills, PA is looking for a Full-Time Senior Professional Staff Nurse to join their team!

This outpatient ambulatory facility offers a highly collaborative environment where RNs partner closely with fellow nurses, physicians, patients, and families. The clinic specializes in gastrointestinal procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies and endoscopies. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support patients in the holding area during admissions and discharge following their GI procedures.

  • Preferred Experience: Candidates with GI lab, procedural, pre/post-operative, PACU, ICU, or surgery center experience are strongly preferred.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (6:30 AM–3:00 PM or 7:00 AM–3:30 PM). No evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call.

    • Educates patients, families, and new staff, applying adult learning principles.
    • Precepts and supports the development of students and colleagues.

    • Builds positive relationships with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
    • Communicates effectively across disciplines to optimize patient care and office practices.
    • Demonstrates cultural awareness and promotes healthy work relationships.
  • Quality & Safety Improvement
    • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and identifies opportunities to enhance care.
    • Uses evidence-based practices and research to inform clinical improvements.
    • Maintains safety, time management, and work-life balance while modeling professional behavior.
    • Minimum 2 years nursing experience. BSN preferred.
    • ALCS preferred.
    • The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
    • They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.,
    • Rating of solid/strong/good or higher on most recent performance evaluation.
    • UPMC approved national certification OR master's degree or higher in Nursing required. UPMC Professional Contribution required.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state.
    • UPMC Professional Contribution
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire
    • Registered Nurse (RN)
    • Act 33 with renewal
    • Act 34 with renewal
    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
    • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
