The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine seeks candidates for the position of Program Director for the Master of Medical Science Physician Assistant (PA) program. Teaching excellence, innovation and service learning are the norm through interprofessional and community partnerships at the School of Medicine. This 29 month (7 semester) program admits 20 students per cohort, resulting in a manageable student to faculty ratio. Position Summary: The Program Director is a member of the faculty and holds a ranked full-time non-tenure track appointment. The Program Director leads the faculty and administrative team in the daily operations of educating PA students, and the continuous process to ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards and program-defined goals and learning outcomes.

Responsibilities:  The Program Director responsibilities include strategic planning, program organization and administrative oversight, fiscal and resource management, and continuous program review and analysis for adherence to federal, state, university and the ARC-PA Standards and policies, as well as oversee program curriculum, policies, and procedures. The Program Director will supervise and evaluate program faculty and will work with key departments to coordinate student admissions, progression, and counseling and support services.  Additionally, providing instruction within the curriculum and supervising PA student academic advising. The Program Director will participate in service to the school and university and represent the program to internal and external constituencies.

Qualifications:  Minimum requirements for this position include graduation from an accredited PA program, hold a Master’s degree, eligibility for Missouri PA licensure, and current NCCPA-certification.  At least three years of experience in higher education is required. An earned doctorate degree and five years of academic and administrative leadership is preferred. The candidate should be highly motivated, organized, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
